#087 Slovenia...Thanks Spela!

The left stamp are from 2008 Frog issue depicting a Italian Agile Frog (Rana latastei),which is an endemic frog with a distribution restricted to the plains of northern Italy, the extreme southern tip of Switzerland, the Istrian region of Slovenia and adjacent Croatia.

The right stamp are from 2009 Definitive issue depicting Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus),which is a small annual flowering plant in the family Asteraceae, native to Europe.

In the past it often grew as a weed in crop fields, hence its name.

The blue cornflower has been the national flower of Estonia since 1968 and is also one of the national flowers of Germany.
