Fred Zinnemann (April 29, 1907–March 14, 1997) was an Austrian-American film director. Zinnemann enjoyed an outstanding career spanning six decades, during which he directed 22 features, 19 short subjects and won four Oscars. Perhaps his best-known work is High Noon(1952).
